Wreaths Across Canada Inc. is a non-profit organization started in 2007 by Craig McPhee, a veteran of the Canadian Forces. After a visit to Arlington Cemetery in Washington DC, McPhee was moved by how American servicemen and women are honoured each December by the placing of a wreath at the base of headstones. Wreaths Across America is the organization responsible for the annual commemoration. After years of hard work to gain support and approval, McPhee’s dream of creating an organization to honour Canadian veterans was fulfilled. Wreaths Across Canada Inc., is a registered Canadian Charitable Corporation with a Board of Directors. WRAC mission is to remember the contributions of Canadian military personnel, and their families who lie in military cemeteries across Canada.
“The goal is to commemorate the joy of the holidays by the results of the service and dedication of all who have served in the military in Canada,” said Warrant Officer Frank Larabie (retired), retired board member Wreaths Across Canada.
Unfortunately, due to illness, financial issues, and vacant Board positions, the ceremony was canceled in 2019. We are deeply saddened that our founder Warrant Officer (ret’d) Craig McPhee CD passed away on October 20, 2022.
In early 2021, newly elected WRAC Board President Cyndi Mills (Editor-in-Chief, Canadian Military Family Magazine) and Vice President Nicolas McCarthy (Director of Marketing, Communications and Community Outreach ,Beechwood Cemetery) along with new and old members of the board started the conversation to revitalize Craig’s dream of placing a wreath on over 225000 grave sites across Canada.
When Wreaths Across Canada began, the board had purchased the website domain “wac.ca”. Unfortunately, the domain expired and was bought by a company that has NO AFFILIATION with the Wreaths Across Canada Charity. The board made attempts to contact the new owners with no avail, therefore the new “wrac.ca” site was made. We ask our supporters to spread the word about the wrac.ca updated site. If you have any questions, leave a comment on our Facebook page.
Wreaths Across Canada has utilized the online charity platform Canadahelps.org since 2015. CanadaHelps provides a secure Canadian platform, that provides instant tax receipts as well as options to give monthly, anonymously or business donations.

Across the country and around the table, stories are shared of the sacrifice of service of current or past family members who answered the call and joined the Canadian Armed Forces. These stories are often passed down from generation to generation.
We believe that everyone should be able to learn from these stories, share them and take a moment out of the holiday season to commemorate a loved one, honour the community of their services and teach the next generations their shared military heritage.
Wreaths Across Canada is currently in a rebuilding phase and will hold a single official ceremony at the National Military Cemetery at Beechwood. Help us ensure that all 6000 graves have a Wreath this holiday season!
